Pre-Major Advising

Pre-major advising is for continuing students who no longer wish to be in their current major, know which other major they want, but do not meet change of major requirements. Pre-major advising allows for students to have a set advisor to assist in the registration process and ensure progress is aligned with change of major requirements.

There is no GPA or academic standing requirement for pre-major. Transfer students are permitted to be pre-major after completing one semester, if earned hours exceed 54.

Requirements for Pre-Major

• Students are permitted to be “pre-major” for up to two semesters
• Over the maximum number of hours (>54) permitted for exploratory/undeclared
• Completed at least one semester at UTD
